Treatment Approach

State-of-the-Art, Effective Treatments for Anxiety, OCD, and Related Disorders

Our team combines expertise in anxiety therapy, CBT therapy, and the most effective, scientifically proven treatments with a personalized and caring approach. They use this combination to help adults and teenagers break free from the grips of anxiety and anxiety-related disorders in order to live a fuller, more rewarding life. With an exceptionally strong grasp of these issues and a passion for helping others, we work collaboratively with each client to develop an individualized treatment plan and then to better understand and overcome the often challenging problems, disorders, or situations they face.

Our approach is effective in helping clients with a variety of anxiety disorders, OCD, and related disorders. These include phobias (e.g., flying, heights, and vomiting); obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders (e.g., body dysmorphic disorder, compulsive hair pulling and skin picking); generalized anxiety; panic attacks; social anxiety; health anxiety; and post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD).

We recognize clients often enter treatment with multiple areas of concern and are able to treat problems that are often associated with anxiety. Other problems that we help clients to address include depression, mood fluctuations, procrastination, perfectionism, insomnia, and ADHD.

Individually Tailored Forms of CBT, Exposure Therapy, and Other Cognitive-Behavioral Approaches

Our team draws on a wealth of expertise and experience in effective cognitive and behavioral treatments. We will work closely with you to custom-tailor treatment and identify the combination of strategies, principles, and tools most likely to work for you based on your particular problems, needs, and goals. For clients with certain problems and needs. We have in-depth training in specialized cognitive-behavioral treatments including the following:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety disorders
  • OCD-specific Cognitive Therapy for OCD and related conditions (an effective but difficult to find option)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and DBT Skills Training
  • Cognitive Therapy for Social Anxiety Disorder (CT-SAD)
  • Habit Reversal Training (HRT) for trichotillomania and excoriation disorders
  • Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment (ComB) for trichotillomania and excoriation disorders
  • Prolonged Exposure (PE) for trauma and PTSD
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma and PTSD
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for trauma and PTSD in child, teens, and young adults
  • Behavioral Activation (BA) for depression
  • Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU) Therapy for generalized anxiety
  • Panic Control Treatment and Cognitive Therapy for panic disorder
  • Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT)
  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for children/teens and families
  • Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) for parents of anxious children/teens
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)

Among the approaches we use most often are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a specialized form of cognitive-behavioral therapy called Exposure Therapy or Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Through these approaches, clients learn to change unhelpful patterns of thinking, and reduce undesirable behavior patterns (like avoidance, anxious behaviors, or procrastination). In addition, they learn to gradually face and master the situations, activities, objects, and memories that cause anxiety. Besides these forms of CBT, we also integrate mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches and values-based work to help clients cope more effectively with difficult thoughts, feelings, and situations.

Exploring Our Specialized Treatment Programs for Anxiety and Related Disorder

Our treatment philosophy is rooted in the belief that effective therapy must be personalized to each individual’s unique experiences and challenges. While we heavily incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure Therapy or Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) as foundational approaches, we understand the importance of a comprehensive strategy that addresses the wide spectrum of disorders our clients face.

For those seeking more detailed information on how our therapy sessions are tailored to address specific conditions, we invite you to explore the dedicated pages for our targeted treatment programs. Discover how we approach generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), navigate the complexities of social anxiety disorder, offer specialized care for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), help patients work toward overcoming trichotillomania (compulsive hair-pulling) and skin excoriation (compulsive skin-picking) disorder, and provide support for overcoming shy bladder syndrome (paruresis).

Our aim is not only to help clients manage symptoms but to empower them to lead richer, more fulfilling lives. By integrating exposure-based therapies, cognitive techniques, mindfulness, acceptance-based strategies, and values-based work as needed, we aim to provide a well-rounded and effective therapeutic experience.
